Trends and Issues: The Impact of Learning Objects

Analysis of Learning Objects (LOs)

The following sections will investigate various elements or components of Learning Objects (LOs), and then show how the elements relate to each other to help define LOs. With so many different definitions of LOs, it is necessary to look the various elements to be able to analyze LOs as a whole.

Wiley says, "Learning objects are elements of a new type of computer-based instruction grounded in the object-oriented paradigm of computer science. Object-orientation highly values the creation of components (called "objects") that can be reused in multiple contexts, and this is the idea behind LOs (http://reusability.org/read/chapters/wiley.doc, 2000)".
